Those very first moments, in which an unsuspecting electrician discovered an odd, dust-covered stringed instrument entombed behind a wall in the 1893 Zellerbach Mansion, San Francisco, are by now almost myth. Time would reveal that behind that unusual instrument lay the treasure horde of Elationist artwork, instruments, and music.
These discoveries mark the birth of the Foundation for the Preservation of Fantastic Possibilities, unearthing the incredible history of the forgotten Elationists and shedding new light on 20th century art and music.
Word of the Elationists spread, attracting contemporary artists, musicians, historians, and private collectors. This new interest raised the call for the Centennial Celebration and reintroduction of San Francisco’s lost movement to the world.
