The Centennial Celebration of the Elationists is a retrospective exhibition spearheaded by San Francisco artists Robert Larkin, Brent Bishop, and Tyson Ayers. This exhibition will feature the works and history of San Francisco's Lost Movement, the Elationists, who rose from the ashes of the 1906 Great Earthquake and Fire to bring joy back to their city.
Presented by the Elationist's preservation society, the Foundation for the Preservation of Fantastic Possibilities, this exhibition will be complete with Elationist artwork, music, original musical instruments, archival film, photographs, and recordings, and a collection of rediscovered artifacts.
The exhibition will also include a re-creation concert of the Elationists' fantastic "buzz" music, played on the original instruments, which were built from the remants of earthquake-shattered Victiorian homes. Audiences will also be treated to generous helpings of the espresso-strength chocolate elixir served at the Elationists' gatherings.
This event is an open celebration of life, art, diversity, and San Francisco's rich history and heritage. True to the spirit of the Elationists, this exhibition will be accessible to the whole community, celebrating diversity and creativity, and impacting a broad audience. |
